Mike Williams
Mike holds a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate from Kushala Yoga, and has previously taken classes and short courses on mindfulness, vipassana meditation, and other meditation practices through various organizations.
Mike began his journey over a decade ago absorbing dharma talks and other Buddhist influences, slowly, trying to make sense of life. Meditation practice and studies significantly influenced his life, on and off, for years. After years of practice, while still battling depression and anxiety, he hesitantly joined a local yoga studio to “get off the couch” and find some movement and was instantly absorbed. Connecting with authentic yogic practices of mindful movement, breath work, and philosophy bolstered with community and supporting teachers, transformation was inevitable. Yoga enabled Mike to dive deep, resulting in several personal and psychological realizations, and dramatically improved his mental health. He says the increase in strength, flexibility, and mobility are merely byproducts of the practice.
Mike enjoys practicing several styles of yoga at his local studios including vinyasa, yin, hatha, power, classical, nidra, philosophy studies and contemplation, mythology, and meditation, and can also be found attending local kirtan. Regardless of the practice, a present and meditative mind is his foundation.
Understanding intimately that yoga can be a balance of physical, mental, and spiritual practice, Mike intends for his classes to cultivate space for whatever needs to arise on the mat for his students. His love of music will most certainly show up in the class playlists, infusing the practice with its message and/or energy.
Off the mat, Mike is a husband, proud father of his growing daughter, and a professional electrical engineer. He loves nature, RV glamping, and flip-flops between hobbies including photography, woodworking, and guitar, depending on which way the winds are blowing.
