November 24, 2009Newport Yoga Wild Things Rocked the 24 Hour Challenge
This past weekend the Newport Yoga “Wild Things” sent an enthusiastic team to the 24 Hour Yoga Challenge, to raise money for UNICEF’s Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS campaign. The event took place at the new Richmond Oval – which is a magnificent building… much more than a speeding skating oval!
We’d like to extend a huge thank you to our team of participants and the community that supported us through their donations.
Some highlights from the event:
- We raised over $1200 – thank you sponsors!!!
- Some of the best yoga teachers in the city came out to volunteer teach a roster of classes with styles including Yin, Partner, Anusara, Sivananda and more.
- The roof of the oval is spectacular – made of wood reclaimed from pine beetle forests. We had plenty of time to gaze at it in the reclined poses and between classes.
- Kundalini yoga at 4am is like giving Alissa 10 espressos then a dose of laughing gas
In spite of the chilly air, bright lights and arena ambiance, we had a great time, and came home exhausted from our yoga hangover.
