Week Three • Is Your Heart In It? The influence of attitude and practices to work with it
December 15, 2020“As is the Breath, So is the Mind”
February 9, 2021Dear fellow traveler in the Challenge,
This journey through the challenge has given us much to reflect on and new fuel for practice, especially at a time of year that’s rife with memories, and in the present tense, holds a heightened sense of both anticipation and closure. This week we have been working with our attitude, our qualities of heart, and I’ve found there is a lot to observe and practice within the disposition that’s I offer to each moment of experience. In our practice, we work with our capacity to observe the present moment clearly. My teacher Michael Stone reminds us that:
When we don’t recognize the attitude that we’re bringing into what we’re noticing, we confuse what we’re noticing with our theory about it… It kills intimacy.
In these last few days of the challenge, notice the theories that you bring to what you see and how you listen.
On each of the four remaining days of the Challenge, there’s something special happening, so we can end with inspiration and energy.
With warmth and gratitude,
Karen and Chris

Meditation #6: Metta // Loving Kindness
In this meditation we practice metta, loving kindness. Metta is the attitude that recognizes we have a limitless capacity to offer love and kindness to others or ourselves. Through meditation practice, we cultivate this attitude and transform the way we approach our relationships without and within. (14 mins)
