New to Kushala
Are you new to Kushala, maybe new to yoga, but unsure of where to start and what to expect? We have all been there! And we are here to guide you towards an informed decision of how yoga at Kushala can best fit into your schedule, meet your individual needs, and improve your quality of life. We offer many classes suitable for beginners through to advanced levels. Don’t be shy; our studio is welcoming, our instructors and staff are friendly, and our classes are diverse. There is a style of yoga that is right for you.

Step 1:
Choose the Right Class
Choosing a yoga class depends on your individual goals and experience with yoga. If you are a beginner, take a look at the Beginner Yoga Classes that are suitable for you. On our Schedule, you can filter the classes by your goals (stretching, strengthening, meditation, etc).
Step 2:
Reserve Your Spot in Class
Next to each class on the schedule, you will see a button to “Reserve” the class, or “Notify Me” if the class is full.
When you reserve a class, you will need to purchase a pass to secure your spot. We suggest you start with a drop-in or a 2-Week Introductory Special.
A confirmation email for the reservation and pass purchase will be sent to you, once your purchase is complete.
Step 3:
Take Class!
Studio Classes
We want to help make your first visit to Kushala comfortable. Plan to arrive 10 minutes early to give yourself time to get settled. Come to the front desk, and our friendly staff will help you get familiarized with the studio. You will fill out a short waiver, be shown the facility, and we will answer any questions you have about your chosen class.
Please bring your yoga mat, we supply all the other props.
Online Classes
If you’re taking a class online, make sure you have Zoom installed. You will receive an email with a link to “Join the Class”.

Classes for Beginners

Yoga for Beginners – Learn the Basics of Yoga
This course will teach you the basic yoga poses and breathing techniques. You will gain an understanding of their postural alignment and overall benefits and modifications to allow you to practice them with confidence.
Recommended for:
- all beginners
- those who would like to tune up their practice and learn the basics of yoga.

Therapeutic Yoga
This class will include an all levels warm-up sequence, and will focus on the breath, encourage a slow pace, guide into gentle movements and stretches, in order to remove imbalances and bring back intelligence to the muscles, postural awareness and physical body.
Recommended for:
- People with chronic pain conditions once their doctor has recommended gentle yoga.
- People unable to participate in general all levels Hatha yoga classes

Yoga for Healthy Hips and Back
In this class you will learn and practice a therapeutic approach towards healing acute and chronic back pain. This class is suitable for anyone who is frustrated with back pain; all ages and levels are welcome. Where back pain sufferers may not find general classes appropriate for their needs, this class provides a slow-paced, safe environment to accommodate healing therapies through yoga for each individual.
Recommended for:
- People working with injury or mobility issues in the hips and back
- Athletes or active people who need guidance to stretch and re-balance the body from higher impact activity

All Levels Yoga
In All Levels Yoga you will be lead through a well-rounded practice of yoga postures, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques. Based in the tradition of Hatha yoga, this class combines elements of the time-tested practice with contemporary awareness of physiology and integrative health.
A special focus will be placed on aligning your body optimally in yoga postures (placement, rotation and engagement) to provide a foundation for good overall health. Props such as blocks, straps and bolsters are often used to enhance the postures and provide more comfort in your body. Our experienced instructors will teach postural variations to suit all levels.
Recommended for:
- Individuals looking for a well-rounded class combining strength, flexibility, balance, and mental centering
- Individuals who are at minimum in moderate physical condition

Deep Stretch Yin Yoga
In this class you will engage in long held passive postures designed to target the joints, bones and connective tissue. By keeping your muscles soft, you are able to release deep layers of connective tissue, greatly increasing your range of motion, and creating more ease in any style of yoga, and your life in general.
Recommended for:
- Individuals with at least moderate mobility, who wish to deepen their range of motion
- Individuals in need of myofascial release caused by day-to-day activity or specific injury

Relax and Restore Yoga
Restorative Yoga is the most gentle healing form of Hatha yoga that is practiced with props, in reclined positions, to provide a supportive environment for total relaxation.
Recommended for:
- Individuals who need a time and space to stop, breathe and relax in a supportive environment
- Individuals with chronic pain
- Individuals suffering from stress-related illness
